Two events are being held this week to remember the late folk singer Pete Seeger.
The Pete Seeger Memorial Concert, at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Nietasche’s, 248 Allen St., will feature Phil Knoerzer, Ten Cent Howl and Folk Faces, along with Chuck Culhane, who was a personal friend of Seeger’s, and local labor historian Alex Blair on the significance of May Day. The Subversive Theatre’s new lineup of plays for the 2014-20154 season will also be unveiled. Tickets are $10, free with a subscription to the theater’s season.
The Lizzard Ball, sponsored by the Peace Education Fund and Buffalo History Museum, will honor Seeger with a program at 7 p.m. Thursday in the museum. There will be songs by Dan Borodzik, My Rap Name is Alex, Kilissa Cissoko and others, along with Culhane. The cost is $10.
