BATAVIA – Police are looking for the shooter or shooters who fired BB guns at people attending the daily soup kitchen outside the Batavia Assembly of God on North Spruce Street at noon Tuesday.
Authorities believe the shots, which nearly struck a three-year-old girl in the head and put a hole in the side of the church, came from an apartment complex across the street from the church.
Batavia police, State Police and the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office are investigating. No suspects have been identified.
Anyone arrested in the incident could face reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and other charges, according to police spokesmen.
