BATAVIA – Genesee Community College will begin its fall Civil War Lecture Series with a talk by historian and author Wayne Mahood at 7 p.m. Sept. 4 in Room T102 of the Conable Technology Building.

His lecture is free and open to the public.

Mahood, a distinguished service professor emeritus of education at Geneseo State College, has published a number of books about New York soldiers in the Civil War.

His most recent book, “Fight All Day, March All Night: A Medal of Honor Recipient’s Story,” follows the career of Capt. Morris Brown Jr., of Penn Yan, who left his studies at Hamilton College to serve in the war.
