BATAVIA – The City Council has set Jan. 8 for its biennial reorganization meeting whose chief task is selecting a council president.

Two newcomers will join the council next year after having won at-large seats in a field of nine last month.

Brooks M. Hawley was reelected and will be joined by Eugene A. Jankowski and John Deleo.

The City Charter specifies that the president must be chosen from the three members elected city-wide. All nine members – six of whom represent wards – have a vote.
