An amusingly casual thief made off with a metal “R” insignia sign, about six feet tall, from the Roycroft Campus in East Aurora, Roycroft officials said Thursday.
An older man wrapped it in a blanket and strapped to the roof of his Volvo wagon, after first measuring it to see if it would fit in the trunk, according to surveillance videos taken Saturday morning at about 7:30 a.m. The camera captured about 20 minutes of footage.
“That man had a mission and Roycroft was written all over it,” said Curt Maranto, Roycroft executive director. “I don’t think we would ever press charges,” he said, adding, “Give the stupid thing back.”
