The Amherst Town Board will have its reorganization meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in the Council Chambers of the Amherst Municipal Building, 5583 Main St., Williamsville.
It is the first meeting of the year for the new Town Board, which has been downsized to five members from six and includes a new Councilmember in Democrat Ramona D. Popowich. A work session will be held at 3 p.m. in Council Chambers.
In other matters, the Highway Department began picking up Christmas trees last week and will continue through Jan. 24.
Residents are reminded to take off all the tinsel, lights, string, twine and ribbon before placing the trees at curbside so they can be taken to the composting facility.
Starting Jan. 27, the trees should be put out with the weekly garbage.
Elsewhere around town, openings are still available for winter 2014 classes at the Amherst Center for Senior Services, 370 John James Audubon Parkway.
Classes include: the AARP Smart Driver Course from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25; upholstery, starting March 4; art history, starting Jan. 6; and digital photography, starting Feb. 5.
Complete course descriptions and registration information on the Winter 2014 Course Catalog is available online at the Town of Amherst website: www.amherst.ny.us. Click on the Senior Services Department and then select the Winter Course Catalog link in the center column.
