BATAVIA – A 23-year-old Akron man was remanded to the Genesee County Jail Friday afternoon, hours after his capture in Amherst.

Patrick R. Krieger fled from an upper apartment on East Main Street in Corfu about 7 a.m. and was tracked down in Amherst. After a brief foot chase by State Police, Amherst and Cheektowaga police officers and Erie County sheriff’s deputies, he was taken into custody late in the morning.

He was arraigned in Corfu Village Court on second-degree burglary, menacing for allegedly displaying a weapon and criminal contempt because of a domestic dispute that reportedly led to the burglary. He was remanded to the county jail in lieu of $30,000 cash bail or a $60,000 bail bond. During the police chase, he vowed to “commit suicide by police” but he was captured without anyone being injured.
