A kitchen fire Friday morning caused $175,000 in damage to an Amherst home, Amherst fire officials reported.

Getzville firefighters responded shortly before 11 a.m. to 23 Carriage Hill Court, near West Klein Road, when the resident called reporting a kitchen fire near the stove. Fire Chief Scott Preston arrived on the scene in three minutes and found heavy smoke and fire, which arriving firefighters brought under control in about 18 minutes.

Firefighters from the East Amherst, Snyder and Williamsville companies also responded. No injuries were reported.

Damage was listed at $100,000 to the home and $75,000 to its contents. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
