Several males – armed and masked – forced their way into an Amherst apartment Thursday night, when they fought with five of the occupants before running from the scene.
Police believe the attack may be connected to a large party hosted at the apartment last weekend.
The home-invasion happened at around 10:10 p.m. Thursday in an apartment on Kaymar Drive in the town’s Willow Ridge neighborhood, Amherst police said Friday.
Five to seven masked assailants forced their way into the apartment armed with knives, a crowbar and what was described as a fake gun, police said.
The suspects began fighting with the five people inside the residence and, at one point, used tape to bind a female’s hands behind her back.
She quickly escaped.
As the victims began to take control of the melee, the suspects left the apartment and ran from the scene.
Amherst police responded with a K-9 unit and were able to track the suspects to the nearby area of Nickel Way but no arrests have been made, according to police reports.
The five victims suffered minor injuries and it is unclear if anything was stolen.
The investigation is continuing.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Amherst Police Department at 689-1311.
