Two new apartment projects along the Sweet Home Road corridor in Amherst have been given the OK by the town Planning Board.
The Planning Board voted 6-0 on Thursday to approve the site plan for 78 units at 4505 Chestnut Ridge Road.
The approval allows the petitioner, FAC Downtown, LLC, to apply for building permits and start construction on the project.
Plans call for three, three-story buildings housing 21 one-bedroom, 51-two bedroom and six three-bedroom apartments, according to the Amherst Planning Department. Plans also show parking for 156 vehicles, including 20 spaces in two buildings.
The proposal includes an outdoor pool and community building. Access to the property is from Chestnut Ridge Road on the Versailles at Amherst Condominiums, where the developer has an easement in place.
The Planning Board also recommended rezoning 2.6 acres of property on Sweet Home for 72 apartments.
The project, located at 2493 and 2497 Sweet Home, just north of Dodge Road, now heads to the Town Board, which will consider the rezoning. The petitioner is Mark Tiedemann.
The two proposals are the latest in a series of apartment projects that have sprouted up over the past several years along the Sweet Home Road corridor, near the University at Buffalo North Campus.
