The American Legion Band of the Tonawandas’ earned the top honor Friday at the 2014 State Convention Parade in Albany.

Second place went to the Yankee Doodle Band from Rensselaer. The parade kicked off at 6:30 p.m. and featured units from across New York State.

The American Legion Band of the Tonawandas’ Post 264, a not-for-profit corporation, has 90 members. World War I veterans and Post 264 members formed the group in 1929.

The band performs concerts between September and June in area schools and theaters. In the summer, the band performs at concerts and parades throughout Western New York.
