Ryan A. Schrader and Rebecca L. Baker, both 32 and both of the Allegany County Village of Wellsville, were remanded to the Allegany County Jail after their arrest Wednesday by state police and Wellsville village police in connection with recent robberies and burglaries at four businesses in Wellsville, Shongo and Stannard.

In Wellsville Village Court, Schrader was remanded to jail in lieu of $50,000 bail. Baker is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail.

They were arrested in an early morning armed robbery of $357 at the Wellsville McDonald’s on Aug. 11 and recent burglaries at a Shongo bar, a Stannards gas station and a business on North Main Street in the Village of Wellsville.

Schrader, who was also found to have a small quantity of crack cocaine during his arrest, is being held on charges of second-degree robbery, fourth-degree grand larceny, third-degree burglary and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree.

Baker is being held on charges of second-degree robbery, third-degree burglary and fourth-degree grand larceny.

Both suspects have also been charged with third-degree burglary, attempted third-degree burglary, fourth-degree grand larceny and petit larceny by Wellsville police for what were described as “multiple break-ins” at a downtown Wellsville business that police did not identify.

Spokesmen for the State Police Amity Station publicly lauded acting Wellsville Police Chief Mark Bierman and Wellsville Police Sgt. Josh Kear for what were described as the “valuable assistance” both officers provided State Police investigators in the arrest of the two suspects.
