ALLEGANY – The Dresser-Rand Challenger Learning Center at St. Bonaventure University has announced that it will buy a new simulated space mission program for students in kindergarten through fourth grade with a $7,000 grant recently received from the F.T. and Anna C. Manley Memorial Fund.
The Micronauts Mini Discovery Mission takes place aboard the International Space Station and will encourage youngsters to perform a variety of hands-on experiments. The center has two other simulated space missions – Voyage to Mars and Rendezvous with Comet Halley.
“I am excited to have the Micronauts program added to our center’s capacities so we’ll be able to reach out and influence grade school students for the first time,” said Challenger Learning Center chairman Stu Smith. “The chance to expose young students to ideas in astronomy, geology, math and teamwork is terrific.”
