YOUNGSTOWN – The Youngstown Fire Company will hold its annual Field Days Saturday through Monday at Veterans Park.

The event is one of the volunteer fire company’s largest fundraisers of the year.

Event Chairman Greg Quarantillo said, “We have a committee working on the purchase of a new ambulance and a committee working on the purchase of a new fire engine, so this money will go toward day-to-day operations as well as the purchase of new equipment.”

The beer tent and wine bar will open from 5 p.m. to midnight Saturday and Sunday, with happy hour held from 5 to 7 p.m. Rides open from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, joined by food vendors and games. The band Teasers will play from 8 p.m. to midnight.

Festivities last from 1 p.m. to midnight Sunday, beginning with rides, games and vendors from 1 to 10 p.m. M.K. Quarter Horses will provide free horse rides from 1 to 8 p.m., the same hours a petting zoo will also be available. The band 90 West will take the stage from 8 p.m. to midnight, and fireworks are planned for 9:30 p.m.

Bulk chowder will be available starting at 9 a.m. Monday, with a food tent set up in the truck room at 11 a.m. The Labor Day parade starts at noon at Fort Niagara State Park and travels down Main Street. Carnival rides – and free horse rides – will be available from 1 to 8 p.m. The beer tent and wine bar will also be open 1 to 8 p.m., and the band Second Time Around will play from 4 to 8 p.m. The raffle drawing is set for 7 p.m., and the field will close at 8 p.m. An old favorite, the Blanket Stand, will be open all weekend.

Quarantillo said the firefighters are trying something new this year with a basket raffle, to be held in conjunction with the raffle stand, and organizers are still accepting donations. Anyone interested in donating may call Nicole at 870-1494.

Presale vouchers for midway wristbands, which allow one-day access to all rides, are available for $15 (or $18 on the field). Presale vouchers are sold at Victoria’s Hair Care, Melloni’s Market, Rite Aid and the Village Diner in Youngstown; Stevenson’s Hardware and Rite Aid in Ransomville; and Greg’s Pools and the Brickyard in Lewiston.
