LOCKPORT – A woman who entered a Royalton home and tried on a man’s tuxedo was placed on five years’ probation Monday, after the homeowner said he wanted the woman to obtain mental health treatment rather than going to jail.

Renee Garcia, 56, of Community Missions in Niagara Falls, had pleaded guilty Nov. 18 to third-degree burglary and was assigned to mental health treatment to await sentencing for the Aug. 21, 2012, break-in.

County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas said she was impressed that Garcia was doing well in treatment and was impressed by the crime victim’s statement in a presentencing report by the Probation Department.

Garcia was sent to Rochester Psychiatric Center for a time after the arrest.
