LOCKPORT – A father and son were arraigned in Niagara County Court Monday on indictments accusing them of stealing numerous firearms from an elderly man last year.
Kevin S. Wise, 52, and Kevin S. Wise Jr., 23, of East Lake Road, Wilson, pleaded not guilty to 40 counts each of criminal possession of stolen property. The younger Wise also faces four additional counts accusing him of selling a stolen gun in 2009; he denied those as well.
A female relative of both defendants, who asked not to be identified, asserted that the alleged victim suffers from dementia and gave the guns to the defendants. Assistant District Attorney Peter M. Wydysh said he didn’t see it that way, but declined to discuss the evidence.
County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas set bail at $5,000 for the father and $2,000 for the son, pending further proceedings in the New Year.
