LOCKPORT – An expected special meeting of the Niagara County Legislature Tuesday night will not be held, although a committee will discuss the expected subject matter: the declaration of much of the county’s land on Davison Road as surplus to clear the way for bidding from would-be buyers.

Last week, Legislature Chairman William L. Ross, C-Wheatfield, said there would probably be a special meeting, but Monday it was learned the subject will go on the agenda for the Legislature’s next regular meeting March 4.

“We had entertained the idea of a special meeting because some of us were frustrated by the delay in getting out the new RFP [request for proposals],” said Majority Leader Richard E. Updegrove, R-Lockport. “Once I talked to the county attorney, he assured me they were doing everything to move this forward as quickly as possible.”
