LOCKPORT – Joseph D. Ehrenreich, who admitted last September that he was driving drunk in a stolen car while on probation for another felony driving while intoxicated conviction, was placed on five years’ probation for the newest charge Wednesday by Niagara County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III.

Ehrenreich, 45, of Oakwood Drive, Pendleton, could have gone to prison for as long as 11 years. Besides the probation, Murphy fined him $1,000.

Ehrenreich was arrested July 31 on South Transit Road in Lockport, at a time when he was on probation in Erie County for a 2012 DWI. In 2010, he was sentenced to a year in jail for stealing $131,000 from 29 victims in a cruise sale scam.

Since his September plea, Ehrenreich had been involved in a 12-step program for substance abuse and bipolar disorder.
