LOCKPORT – A Medina man was sentenced Wednesday to 12 years in prison and 15 years of post-release supervision for sexually abusing two boys in Somerset.
The penalty for Gerald L. Wolter, 38, of Freeman Road, was identical to a sentence imposed Monday in Orleans County Court, defense attorney Nathan D. Pace said. State Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr., who presided Wednesday, said the sentences will be served simultaneously.
On Dec. 18, Wolter admitted sexual contact with two boys, one 9 years old and the other an adolescent, in separate incidents in Somerset. The one involving the younger boy occurred in April 2012; the other incident was in January 2013. One of the boys abused in Somerset was one of Wolter’s three alleged victims in Orleans County.
Assistant District Attorney Elizabeth R. Donatello said the 9-year-old attempted suicide and was confined to a juvenile psychiatric ward. His fragile mental state and Donatello’s desire to avoid making him testify in open court was the primary reason Wolter received a plea offer.
Wolter said, “I am really sorry for all this. I want to get counseling help.”
