NEWFANE – State Sen. George D. Maziarz released a letter Wednesday in which he urged the management of Eastern Niagara Hospital to look into possible arrangements with other hospital groups in hopes of saving inpatient services at Eastern Niagara’s Newfane location.
Last week, town supervisors and mayors wrote to the hospital board in a similar vein, calling for “meaningful negotiations” with larger systems in the region. Maziarz, in his letter dated Tuesday, told the board and CEO Clare A. Haar, “One path to ensuring the sustainability of ENH and all of its facilities may be considering some degree of partnership with other health care systems.”
Maziarz wrote that he is in frequent contact with Kaleida, Catholic Health and others, and would be willing to facilitate such meetings.
The hospital’s spokeswoman, Carolyn Moore, did not respond to a Buffalo News request for a comment on the letter.
