LOCKPORT – An Orleans County man was sentenced to a year in jail Tuesday for the third sexual misdemeanor of his criminal career. Both prior offenses by Matthew L. Boyce also had brought him jail time.
Assistant Public Defender Michael E. Benedict urged Niagara County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III to place Boyce on probation, because, Benedict said, Boyce has never received counseling to find out why he keeps reoffending.
“The ‘why’ isn’t hard to figure out,” Murphy said. “He’s a perverted sex criminal who takes advantage of young girls.”
Boyce, 39, of Ridge Road, Ridgeway, fondled a 17-year-old girl in his then-home in Cambria Oct. 15. He pleaded guilty to sexual misconduct.
