LOCKPORT – The Niagara County Legislature is expected to vote May 20 on a new three-year contract with the county’s tourism promotion agency, the Niagara Tourism and Convention Corp.

A resolution that would have given the NTCC a contract extension from June 18 to the end of the year was withdrawn from the agenda at Tuesday’s meeting, with complete contract terms to be ironed out by May 20. The NTCC issued a news release Friday announcing an agreement in principle on the new pact.

In other matters, the Legislature approved $33 million worth of road, bridge and building repair work, about one-third of which is to be funded by an upcoming county borrowing. State and federal aid will cover most of the remainder of the cost of the project list.

Also Tuesday, the lawmakers defeated a Democratic resolution to put a 30-minute time limit on party caucuses during Legislature meetings. The vote was 11-4, along party lines, with the Republican-led majority unanimously opposed.
