LOCKPORT – A Cambria man who sexually molested a 9-year-old girl was placed on six years’ probation Friday so he could remain in sex offender counseling.

Jacob E. LaPort, 19, of Lockport Road, had been on interim probation since November 2012, time that will count toward his sentence for second-degree sexual abuse.

LaPort was 17 when the incident occurred on Dec. 28, 2011, but State Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr. denied him youthful offender status and rated him a Level 1 sex offender, the least serious classification.

“You should be classified as a sex offender so people are aware of it,” Kloch said. “You have an affliction, and that affliction isn’t going to go away magically overnight … I think you are dangerous.”

Kloch said that although LaPort pleaded guilty in regard to one girl, a polygraph test given by a probation officer showed that there was a second victim.

Defense attorney A. Angelo DiMillo said LaPort is doing well in treatment, and the probation officer sent Kloch a memo saying he thinks that counseling should continue “for a long period of time.”
