A 7-year-old boy was injured after falling out the window of his family’s third-floor apartment at Seventh and West Genesee streets about 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

Robert Johnson said his son, Jalen Pritchett, who landed on grass, suffered a broken jaw and possibly a broken collarbone.

Johnson said the boy was sitting in the window, which had no screen, when he lost his balance and fell. Johnson said he moved into the apartment this week.

An emergency medical technician at the scene said Jalen, who was taken to a hospital, was fortunate that recent rainfall had softened the ground. He also said the boy was responsive but did nor remember falling.
