DUNKIRK – Three days of activities from fireworks to classic cars will be featured in the Dunkirk Harbor from today to Sunday.
The annual July 4th Fireworks show at the city pier is scheduled for Dusk today. Events begin at noon in Memorial Park on Route 5 with live music and food vendors. Dunkirk’s fireworks display can be seen for miles along the Lake Erie Shoreline and offers more than 30 minutes of professional pyrotechnics.
Saturday’s Wreck and Roll Festival also starts at noon on the city pier. Live music, firefighters’ hose races, food, children’s activities and other events take place on the pier. The annual regatta featuring home-made boats and other things that float is a local favorite. The best local chicken wings will be judged and a variety of local foods are available. Sunday is set for a huge classic car show at Point Gratiot. Several hundred cars roll onto the grassy areas of the park and pop their hoods for viewing. The Lake Shore Street Rods sponsor the event. It is open to the public and will also feature food, music and other activities. The entrance to the park is near Route 5, west of the city harbor area.
