Carli Lloyd scored in the 85th minute to cap an uphill struggle and give the Western New York Flash a 2-2 tie with the Boston Breakers Saturday night at Dilboy Stadium in Somerville, Mass.

The Breakers, who are proving to be a nemesis for the Flash this season with a 1-0-2 record against WNY, built a 2-0 lead on goals by Kyah Simon in the 17th minute and Lianne Sanderson off a corner kick in the 65th minute.

Vicki DiMartino, who played at nearby Boston College, got the first Flash goal in the 77th minute, scoring unassisted for her second of the season. Sarah Huffman’s pass set up Lloyd for the winner. Carli drove her kick over Breakers goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher for her seventh goal of the season, three behind team leader Abby Wambach, who has 10.

The Flash (8-4-7) remained in fourth place in the National Women’s Soccer League standings, but fell to three points behind Sky Blue FC (10-6-4), which defeated the Washington Spirit, 1-0, in Piscataway, N.J., Saturday.

Western New York will be home for its three remaining regular season games, starting with Wednesday night against Washington at Sahlen’s Stadium in Rochester at 7:05 p.m.
