A 74-foot-long, 18-wheel mobile e-library will set up shop outside area libraries Aug. 16 and 17 to showcase the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library’s digital offerings.

The Digital Bookmobile, a high-tech tractor-trailer that has been touring from coast to coast to spread awareness about local libraries’ growing collections of eBooks, audiobooks and other digital media, will visit the public library system’s Clearfield Branch at 770 Hopkins Road in Amherst from 1 to 7 p.m. Aug. 16, and the Orchard Park Public Library branch at 4570 S. Buffalo St. from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 17, event organizers said.

The bookmobile features a number of informational exhibits, including interactive computer stations that instruct visitors on how to browse online library catalogs, and a “gadget gallery” where visitors can learn how to access eBooks on a variety of the latest devices, including iPhones and Kindle readers. Library card holders can access the library’s digital content at search.overdrive.com.
