City of Tonawanda
Mayor Ronald J. Pilozzi has appointed William L. Strassburg as chief of police subject to Common Council approval. Strassburg has served as captain in the city’s police department since June 2010 and interim chief since the retirement of John F. Ivancic, according to a statement from Pilozzi.
A city resident, Strassburg joined the force in 1990 and was promoted to detective in Feb. 2001 and lieutenant in June 2001.
The Council will consider the appointment when it meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday in City Hall, 200 Niagara St.
There will be an informal session at 6 p.m. and then another following the formal meeting at about 7:30 p.m.
