Four local teens who play for Niagara Frontier Volleyball just returned to Western New York after competing for 10 days in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. at the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships. Leah Meyer of St. Mary’s/Lancaster, Meghan Neelon of Clarence, Mary Marusza of Nardin and Lindsay Proctor of Grand Island were all selected to play for a USA team after tryouts were held across the country earlier this year.
The High Performance Championships is one of USA Volleyball’s flagship events with over 100 teams participating.
Meyer, a Clarence resident who will be a junior this fall, competed on the Gold Medal winning USA Youth Continental Red team. The team won the Gold medal after posting an 8-1 match record throughout the tournament. Meyer was named to the Youth International All-tournament team and garnered Youth Tournament MVP honors. Meyer has committed to Duke.
Neelon and Proctor were both members of the USA Select Continental White team.
