The Arts in Education Institute, an affiliate and partner of the Lincoln Center Institute in New York City, founded to stimulate learning and offer programs that bring music, theater, dance, architecture and visual and media arts into the classroom, named Susan M.Swarts, a corporate trainer with Evans Bank, board president for 2009-10. Eric Mower and Associates, a marketing communications agency with a branch in Buffalo, appointed Alicia Graser an assistant planner/buyer in its media department. Previously an account service intern at a Rochester agency, Graser is a University of Rochester graduate.

Thompson will contribute his health care experience and stature among health care policy-makers to further awareness of the company’s approach to employee benefits. Thompson served as secretary of health and human services from 2001 to 2005 and as governor of Wisconsin for four terms, from 1987 to 1998.

Wilson Farms Neighborhood Food Stores recently celebrated the official grand reopening of two remodeled locations: 1971 South Park Ave. and 4931 Lake Shore Road in Hamburg. Both locations received updates to the interiors and exteriors of the stores.

Gilda’s Club Western New York marked the fifth anniversary of its opening Tuesday. The club offers emotional and social support to Western New York men, women, children and teens living with cancer. The occasion will be celebrated with free activities and events open to the public during the week of Nov. 9-14. The club has more than 1,000 active members and has had more than 14,000 clubhouse visits since Jan. 1, 2009. There are 28 Gilda’s Clubs nationally.
••• Cannon Design announced the opening of Boston University’s newest student residence tower, designed by the firm. The tower is the latest building in the development of the John Hancock Student Village, master-planned and designed by Cannon Design. Located at 33 Harry Agganis Way off Commonwealth Avenue, the 396,000-square-foot building provides housing for 962 students in a range of apartment and suite sizes, 20 resident assistant units and three apartment units for faculty.
