Freed Maxick Battaglia, certified public accountants with offices in Buffalo, Rochester and Batavia, promoted Kathryn M. Barrett and Alan W. Gracie Jr., CPAs, to directors and Larry Hessney to director at RSM McGladrey, an affiliate business services company that provides tax and consulting services. Barrett, who joined the firm in 1994, most recently served as a senior manager. She is a graduate of University at Buffalo. Gracie, previously with PricewaterhouseCoopers, joined the firm in 2006 and most recently served as a senior manager. He is a graduate of Fredonia State College. Hessney, also previously a senior manager who joined RSM in 2006, was formerly with Eastman Kodak. He is a graduate of Dartmouth College and holds an MBA from the University of Rochester.

Kaleida Health named Dr. James L. Budny president of its 1,800 member medical-dental staff. Dr. Budny is a neurosurgeon at Millard Fillmore Gates Circle Hospital who recently returned from active duty in Iraq. Other officers: President-elect, Dr. Kathleen

The Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo appointed Susan Grelick gift planning officer. Grelick will assist donors and develop relationships with key professional advisers. She obtained a bachelor’s degree from Union College, and also holds a masters degree in information science, American economic history, and business administration, and a law degree. Grelick served as Amherst Town Clerk from 1992 to 1996 and as Amherst Town Supervisor from 1997 through 2005. She recently worked as a court attorney at Erie County Family Court and teaches a municipal law course at the University of Buffalo Law School. The Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo was established to enhance and encourage long-term philanthropy.
