The Alcott Group, a professional employer organization, named Cara Calvin benefits supervisor. Previously she was benefits administrator. Calvin, with the company since 2005, will be responsible for the administration of all benefit plans as well as managing orientation for new employees.

Board certified chiropractor and soft tissue specialist Brian A. Zelasko has opened a practice in Parkland Professional Park on Southwestern Boulevard. Zelasko received his Doctorate of Chiropractic Medicine at New York Chiropractic College.

Valazza, a graduate of Buffalo State College, is a New York State life, health and securities licensed representative as well as being licensed in New York State for property and casualty insurance.

EMS Group partner Emerling Agency, 8625 Main St., Clarence, named Tina Schmidt personal lines account manager. Schmidt, who holds a New York State property and casualty broker’s license, will write new home, auto and recreational vehicle insurance policies as well as service Emerling Agency clients.

Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center and The Heart Center of Niagara have received the Get With the Guidelines — Heart Failure Silver Performance Achievement Award from the American Heart Association. The hospital received the award in recognition of its reaching an aggressive goal of treating heart failure patients with 85 percent or higher compliance to core standard levels of care as outlined by the AMA/American Stroke Association for 12 consecutive months.
