The Amherst Senior Citizens Foundation named Steve Szubinski board president. Szubinski, managing partner of the PCA Group, an IT solutions provider, was previously vice president and has been a board member since 2006.

The Society of Certified Insurance Counselors recently awarded Julie Israel of the Scheff Insurance Agency of Amherst recognition for five consecutive years of dedication and leadership in the insurance industry. The Society of Certified Insurance Counselors is the founding program of the National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research.

The Perry Veterinary Clinic recently named Daniel J. Fischer and Leo S. Vranich, associate veterinarians. Fischer, a graduate of Cornell University, has clinical interest in companion animal internal medicine and dentistry. Vranich, a graduate of Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, has a primary interest in dairy production medicine and herd health.

The Town of Tonawanda and its professional engineering firm Malcolm Pirnie were honored by the American Council of Engineering Cos. with a Platinum Award for Engineering Excellence for the town’s $4.5 million wastewater treatment plant improvement project. The project, which was completed in 2007, has resulted in a more energy efficient, environmentally friendly wastewater treatment facility and will produce significant savings for the town and its ratepayers.
