First Niagara Bank promoted Christopher C. Ruggiero to banking officer, collections and recovery services. Ruggiero joined the bank in 2002 as a bankruptcy specialist. He earned an associate’s degree in paralegal studies from Bryant and Stratton College.

Chiampou Travis Besaw and Kershner, an Amherst accounting firm, promoted Daniel Morello and Kathryn Rehak to senior accountants. Morello and Rehak joined the firm as staff accountants in 2005.

The Schwartz Group, a provider of specialized marketing services to the health care industry located in Amherst, named Ira J. Wood director of operations. Previously, Wood worked at the company from 2002-2006 before leaving to work at a leading medical communications firm. The Western New York Chapter of the Health Care Financial Management Association honored Jill M. Schaefer and Susan Dybas with Member of the Year Awards at the HFMA annual banquet recently. Schaefer, an audit manager with Lumsden and McCormick, was also inducted as the 2008-2009 president-elect. Dybas is professional services billing manager at Erie County Medical Center.

Target Logistic Services in Buffalo recently changed its name to Mainfreight, reflecting the title of its new global parent. The freight forwarder and logistics provider was acquired by Mainfreight, a New Zealand transportation company, in November 2007. The Buffalo terminal increasingly is being integrated into Mainfreight’s worldwide logistics operation.
