Buffalo Spine and Sports Institute, a non-surgical medical practice specializing in comprehensive patient care for those with spine, sports and occupational injuries, appointed Gerald R. Nannen executive director. Nannen previously served as vice president of operations for the Lifetime Health Medical Group. He is a business administration graduate of John Carroll University and earned his MBA from St. Bonaventure University. The practice has offices in Amherst, Williamsville, Lockport, Orchard Park and Ellicottville.

The Western Division Federal Credit Union named Ellen Christy the 2009 chairperson. Other officers: Vice chairperson, Jeffrey Wagner; secretary, Christine Newhouse; and treasurer, Warren Tulowitzki. Directors: Jerome Siewierski, Samuel Loquasto, Harry Kaczmarek, Francis Markle and Leo Bain. Also, the board named Peter Seitz chairperson of its supervisory committee and Ann Marie Spellman, Deborah Philpott, Robert Brown, and Suzie Mazella members of the committee.

B. J. Muirhead Co., a Buffalo-headquartered provider of boilers, combustion equipment, boiler accessories and service, named Mark Courtney general manager. Courtney is a graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology and has more than 20 years of experience in engineered sales, marketing and management.

First Niagara Bank promoted Michael Wydysh to vice president, business banking relationship manager. Wydysh joined the bank as an area sales manager. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Daemen College.

Meritain Health, an independent provider of services for self-funded health and wellness plans, promoted Suzanne Sinclair to vice president of client relations, based out of the company’s corporate headquarters in Buffalo. Sinclair previously served as director of client relations. She has been with the company for more than 20 years.
