Nussbaumer and Clarke, consulting engineers and surveyors with offices in Hamburg, North Tonawanda, Ellicottville and Dunkirk, named Kevin Lesika a survey technician. Lesika graduated from Paul Smith’s College with a surveying technology degree.

E. Michael Semple, an attorney with an office in Hamburg, accepted an invitation from U. S. District Court Judge William M. Skretny to become a member of the Mediation Panel for the U. S. District Court Western District of New York. Semple also was selected to serve on the Supreme Court Roster of Arbitrators for Civil and Commercial Matters and as a mediator for civil matters.

Women and Children’s Hospital instituted several leadership and management changes for 2009: Michael Kalita, director of Support Services; Donna Koscielniak, RN, oversees nursing staff in the Center for Hematology and Oncology on Variety 8, nursing supervisors and Adolescent Unit on Variety 10; Linda Hubbard, RN, oversees the nursing staff on Tanner 7 (Epilepsy Monitoring Unit) and the Regional Poison Center, Radiology and other nursing staff in various clinics; Meryl Mackowiak, RN, Pediatric Float Pool and endocrine nurses, and managing the inpatient unit on Variety 7; Betty Beyer, Family Support Services manager; Seema Moudgil, business manager of Pediatric Dental Services; Maureen Heimerl, nurse recruiter at DeGraff Memorial Hospital; and Michelle Collins, radiology manager at De- Graff Memorial Hospital.

The Grand Island Chamber of Commerce announced that John’s Pizza and Subs has been named Small Business of the Year. The award will be given at the 43rd annual Citizen of the Year Banquet on April 23. the business is owned and operated by the Raepple family with four locations across Western New York. Other award winners are: ElderWood Health Care at Riverwood, Business of the Year; Grand Island American Legion Post #1346, Organization of the Year; Kathleen Fik, Educator of the Year; Calvin VanderMey, Civic Award; Angela Diebold, Community Service Person of the Year.

Hunt Real Estate Corp. announced that its Buffalo-based residential brokerage division has been named to RISMedia’s 21st Annual Power Broker Report&Survey. Hunt ERA ranked 15th in closed transaction sides in the report and 43rd in sales volume. Last year, the company ranked 34th in closed transaction sides and 82nd in sales volume. RISMedia of Norwalk, Conn. publishes Real Estate magazine.
