Google, Yahoo, CNBC and Dow Jones Web sites will publish real-time stock trades, offering data that had been restricted to professionals and investors with a brokerage account.
“Today you can get real-time weather, sports scores and news, but getting access to stock quotes has been delayed and that’s been unfortunate” for consumers, said Katie Jacobs Stanton, product manager for Google Finance.
Nasdaq OMX Group Inc., the electronic market that handles the most shares in the U. S., will give quotes to Google, CNBC and Web sites of Dow Jones & Co. Yahoo has a similar agreement with the Bats Trading Inc. electronic equity market.
Finance Web sites had published trade data delayed by as much as 20 minutes and charged users for real-time quotes.
Some of the sites have already started offering the quotes, and others will do so shortly.
