A U.S.-Canadian environmental conference for local governments will be held here next month and will feature a celebrity keynote speaker and international experts.
The 2013 Conference on the Environment: A Bi-National Sustainability Summit will take place Oct. 3-5 in Adam’s Mark Hotel.
It kicks off at 7:30 p.m. next Thursday with an address from Gord Downie, lead singer from the Tragically Hip and a well-known advocate for water resource protection in Canada. There will be three distinct tracks for conference sessions: Land Use & Planning; Climate Change and Sustainable Communities; and Great Lakes and Water Resource. It will include a field tour with stops in Love Canal and at the Niagara Power Project.
The Erie County Department of Environment & Planning and the Niagara Region Integrated Community Planning Department spent almost a year planning the conference.
Registration is $95 and includes all conference sessions, events and select meals. Exhibit space is available for $300. For more information, visit: http://coe2013.org.
