A team of two high school seniors from the Niagara Career & Tech Center in Sanborn advanced to a national automotive technology competition after winning a regional competition on Saturday.

Andy Plewniak and Matt Foster will represent their school and the Niagara Frontier Automobile Dealers Association in the National Automotive Technology Competition, April 22 and 23 in New York City. Their instructor is Jasper Adams.

On Saturday, Plewniak and Foster prevailed over five other two-member teams in the NFADA Ron Smith Memorial AutoTech Competition, at Erie Community College’s Vehicle Technology Training Center in Orchard Park. The Western New York Ford Dealers supplied the test vehicle, a 2014 Ford Fusion SE. Entrants competed in both written and hands-on challenges.

At least 20 student teams will vie for prizes and scholarship offers in the national competition.
