Is Paula’s Donuts coming to a corner near you?
It could be.
Owner Paula Huber is on the lookout for the popular donut shop’s third store, which will be located somewhere in the Southtowns, she confirmed Friday.
An exact location has yet to be determined.
“We haven’t even started looking yet,” Huber said. “But everyone keeps saying, ‘Come to the Southtowns, come to the Southtowns!’ ”
Huber hopes to have the new store open sometime next year.
The expansion was spurred by the success of Huber’s Sheridan Drive location, which has doubled in sales since it relocated from its original Kenmore Avenue home last summer after 17 years in that spot.
“I miss that store, but I tell you this has been a godsend,” Huber said. “The location and the extra space have worked out really well.”
The next location would be modeled after the Sheridan Drive store, which is more than twice as large as the original Kenmore store at 3,500 square feet, with a large dining area and six checkout lanes.
A Facebook post on the donut shop’s official page Friday morning cast about for new location suggestions, asking for “specific locations” and “intersections.”
“I just thought I’d put it out there and see if anybody had any good ideas,” Huber said.
Within three hours, the post had garnered more than 1,000 comments, with many patrons requesting a Paula’s in their neighborhood, whether that neighborhood was Lockport, North Tonawanda, Cheektowaga, Texas, Florida or California.
Paula’s Donuts opened a second location on Main Street in Clarence two years ago, where sales are “fantastic and growing,” according to Huber.
The Clarence location employs about 50 people, while the Sheridan location employs about 60.
