University at Buffalo family medicine physician Dr. Richard D. Blondell, vice chairman for addiction medicine and professor of family medicine in the UB School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, was chosen to direct the new National Center for Physician Training in Addiction Medicine. The center is being established by the American Board of Addiction Medicine Foundation, thanks to a $2 million grant from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation. The center will be based at UB, starting Nov. 1.

Members of the Western New York Collaborative Law Professionals participated in the New York State Council on Divorce Mediation Conference, held recently at the Buffalo Yacht Club. Attorney Paul D. Pearson moderated a session on best practices in working with other professionals, featuring Adrienne Rothstein Grace, president of the WNYCLP, who also spoke on the panel, “Collaborative Law and Mediation - Can we all just get along?” Attorney Steven Sugarman presented on, “Bringing Creativity to the Table.”

The civil litigation law firm of Schnitter Ciccarelli Mills recently opened at 8770 Transit Road, Suite 3, in East Amherst. The firm specializes in insurance defense and coverage, but its attorneys handle all aspects of civil litigation. The firm was founded by partners Joe Schnitter, Patricia Ciccarelli and Ryan Mills.

Contributing

Customers and employees of Noco Express Stores gave $12,010 to the monthlong Light the Night Paper Balloon Campaign for the Western and Central New York Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. During September, customers could purchase a $1 paper balloon at any of Noco Express’ 35 locations to benefit the nonprofit organization.
