The Buffalo Niagara Partnership presented the Athena Leadership Award to Lynne Marie Finn, president and chief executive officer of Superior Workforce Solutions. The award is presented to an individual in the Buffalo Niagara region who demonstrates support for the goals of female professionals, and provides significant and selfless assistance on their behalf. Bridget O’Connell, mediation manager for the 8th Judicial District Martin P. Violante Alternative Dispute Resolution Program, received the Athena Young Professional Leadership Award, which honors an emerging leader who demonstrates excellence, creativity and initiative in their business or profession, among other positive qualities.
The Community Services for the Developmentally Disabled elected and installed Kevin P. Wicka to its board of directors. Wicka is with the Tarantino Law Firm as a litigator practicing in the areas of employment law and personal injury.
SofTrek Corp., a fundraising software developer, named Carolyn Klotzbach a marketing and sales support specialist and Jill Lemme an instructional designer and trainer. Klotzbach holds dual bachelor’s degrees from Fredonia State College and a master’s degree from the University at Buffalo. Lemme is a Fredonia State College graduate and obtained her master’s degree from UB.
The Martin Group, a Buffalo-based advertising agency, was recently recognized by the International Academy of the Visual Arts with three awards at the 2013 W3 Awards, which honors creative excellence on the Internet. A Gold Award in the Law and Legal Services category was given to the website of Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman, which was designed by the Martin Group and developed by Ingenious Inc. Also, in the same category, the website for Kenney Shelton Liptak Nowak won a Silver Award. In the category of self promotion, the Martin Group received a Silver Award for its 2012 digital holiday card.
The Laundromutt, a new self-service dog spa, recently held a grand opening of its facility at 3012 Delaware Ave. in Kenmore. The Laundromutt will provide dog owners an inexpensive and green alternative to full-service grooming.
Minuteman Press of Downtown Buffalo has relocated to the Elsinghorst Building at 136 Broadway, Suite 101, across from the Colored Musicians Club. It is a full-service printer with consultative design assistance, finishing and mail services. Owner Greg Schlaich and his team include two graphics designers and a sales professional.
Buffalo Prep was recently awarded a $1,500 grant from the ExxonMobil Educational Alliance program, through its retailer Noco to support math and science education initiatives.
