A team of Canisius College students won first place at the Western New York Chartered Financial Analyst Institute Research Challenge for the fourth consecutive year. The challenge is a competition between university sponsored teams that research a designated publicly traded company, prepare a written report on that select company and then present their findings to a panel of judges. The Canisius team included: Richard Hilliker, Josh Kehoe, Brock Wilkinson, Randy Toth and Nick Perez. Richard A. Wall serves as the faculty adviser to the Canisius team. Steven A. Gattuso, director of the Golden Griffin Fund, is the team’s industry mentor.

The American Diabetes Association appointed Lucille White, director of planning with the Seneca Nation of Indians, to the American Indian/Alaska Native Initiative National Subcommittee. The appointment is a two-year term with monthly meetings via conference calls and one face-to-face, two-day meeting in Washington, D.C.

Dunkin’ Donuts franchisees in Buffalo have extended the annual “Give a Pint, Get a Pound” campaign by donating 250 pounds of coffee to the American Red Cross Blood Services–New York-Penn Region. Presenting donors who come in to donate at the Red Cross Blood Donation Centers at 786 Delaware Ave. in Buffalo and 4267 Transit Road in Amherst will receive a free pound of Dunkin’ Donuts coffee as the Red Cross works to make up a deficit of several hundred blood units.
