Hilbert College President Cynthia Zane was named to a new steering committee of college and university presidents that will assess the future of independent colleges. The Council of Independent Colleges has organized the 22-member panel to develop a plan that encourages independent colleges and universities to revitalize their missions and business models. The project, The Future of Independent Liberal Arts Colleges, is funded by the Lumina Foundation.

The Margaret L. Wendt Foundation awarded a $75,000 grant to Heritage Centers’ Maryvale School for the construction of two front entrances to the building. The entrances will include air-locked, secured-door vestibules, as well as covered outdoor walkways to accommodate students with special needs who use wheelchairs. The Maryvale campus houses Heritage Centers’ school-age students with developmental disabilities ranging in age from 5 to 21 years.
