Preservation Buffalo Niagara, a Western New York historic preservation organization, appointed Mary Ellen Ashe interim executive director. Ashe previously operated her own management consultancy and served as interim executive director of Great Lakes United.
Bank of Akron promoted Barbara A. Willis to assistant vice president. Willis serves as the human resources manager for the bank and is responsible for maintaining employee relations, recruitment and on-boarding. She has been with the bank for four years.
Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman managing partner Scott E. Friedman will give a presentation titled, “My Brain Made Me Do It: The psychological challenges of running a small business,” June 23 at the Edward Jones financial education luncheon in Rochester. Friedman is also the author of seven books, including his latest, “Family Business and Positive Psychology: New Planning Strategies for the 21st Century.”
Tedesco Construction Services of Niagara Falls was named to Varco Pruden’s Buildings’ 2013 Hall of Fame, for the Lewiston Fire Company No. 1 Apparatus Building in Lewiston. The awards are presented annually to the independent authorized Varco Pruden builders whose work reflects outstanding integration of building systems, products, architectural appearance, end use and design. The 6,500-square-foot new structure was completed in June 2013.
Buffalo-based Delaware North Travel Hospitality Services opened the 40/40 Club in Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International. The sports bar was inspired by the original 40/40 Club in New York that takes its name from a baseball term for the group of players who have hit 40 home runs and stolen 40 bases in a single season.
The Basil Family Dealerships has initiated its first Cans for Cars promotion to benefit the Food Bank of Western New York. People can drop off canned goods to any of the nine area Basil Family Dealerships, and while there they can enter to win one of five new vehicles or $21,000 toward any used vehicle. The car will be given away Labor Day weekend.
