Heritage Christian Services, a human services agency that supports more than 1,800 children and adults with disabilities, recently named the Rev. David Donner and Barbara DeLong to its board of directors. Donner is the retired pastor of St. Stephens-Bethlehem United Church of Christ in Amherst. He is a longtime advocate for people with developmental disabilities and is the volunteer leader of a local outrigger canoeing program for men and women with special needs. DeLong is a longtime advocate for people with disabilities. She has served on the board of directors for Heritage Centers and is currently serving as the co-chairwoman for the Family Committee of the Developmental Disability Alliance of Western New York.

Two members of Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center’s nutrition services team, Mary Degnan, director of nutrition services, and Jessica Masterson, clinical dietitian and dietary supervisor, have earned designation as Certified Diabetes Educators from the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators.

First Niagara Financial Group redesigned its small-business lending products and services with the introduction of the Ready Access Line of Credit, an unsecured line of credit. Qualified small businesses will be able to access up to $50,000 on an unsecured basis, with no need to reapply once approved. The company has also increased the term length on business loans up to seven years and has shortened the average loan approval cycle time for a business loan.

Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara, the Niagara County chapter of NYSARC, received a $5,000 Niagara County Community Arts DEC grant from the New York State Council on the Arts. Administered by Arts Services Initiative of Western New York, the grant will support hands-on educational workshops designed to expand the scope of fine arts programming offered to people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities through visual, music and theater arts. The workshops which will begin in mid-2014, will also be open to the community. Dates and locations will be posted at www.opportunitiesunlimited.org.
