M&T Bank promoted Robert W. Smith III to group vice president. Smith has been with the bank for 34 years, serving most recently as administrative vice president.

Currently business banking manager in the credit shared services department, he is Niagara University graduate and earned an MBA from Canisius College.


The Lifetime Healthcare Companies, Univera Healthcare’s Rochester-based parent, appointed David J. Nasca to its governing board. Nasca also serves on Univera Healthcare’s Regional Advisory Board.

He is president and chief executive officer of Evans Bancorp.


A team of four MBA students in the University at Buffalo School of Management, including Chris Maugans, of Tonawanda; James Finlay, of Chicago; Christi Lundahl, of Webster; and Michael Pinnola, of North Babylon, took second place at the annual Whitman Case Competition at Syracuse University’s Whitman School of Management. The team was awarded $1,250.

This is the fourth consecutive year a UB School of Management team has finished in the top two at the prestigious case competition.

The wineries of the Niagara Wine Trail received a combined total of 34 awards in Gold, Silver and Bronze rankings from the 2014 Finger Lakes International Wine Competition held recently in Rochester.
