Phillips Lytle partner Timothy W. Hoover was reappointed to the New York State Continuing Legal Education Board for a three-year term. Press Raw Food & Juice, a specialty store and takeout shop for individuals interested in raw vegan and healthy food choices, will open for business next Wednesday at 197 Grant St. The shop’s owner and executive chef is Esther Pica.
Amherst Meals on Wheels has prepared and distributed emergency food kits to elderly and homebound clients in Amherst in preparation for winter weather. The kits contain a three-day supply of food and have been given to clients for more than 20 years. The food items were donated by the Williamsville East field hockey team and from the Food Pantry at the Amherst Center for Senior Services. In addition, Amherst Meals on Wheels provides the Town of Amherst Police and Engineering departments a supply of emergency kits to deliver during winter storms or power outages.
Rural/Metro Medical Services of Western New York recently received a perfect score from the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services. Also, Rural/Metro Medical Services was recently named the Emergency Medical Services Agency of the Year by the New York State Department of Health.

The Basil family dealerships, WKBW-TV, the WNY Holiday Partnership, the Marine Corps, Dunkin’ Donuts and Time Warner Cable will again partner to provide toys through Operation Santa Claus for children at Christmas. Operation Santa Claus has contributed more than 45,000 toys to Toys for Tots since its inception in 2004. From now until Dec. 17, participants are encouraged to drop off a new, unwrapped toy at any of the Basil family dealerships’ nine locations and enter to win one of four vehicles or $21,000 in Basil Bucks toward the purchase of a used vehicle.
