Gerhard J. Neumaier, a co-founder of Lancaster-based firm Ecology & Environment, died Wednesday, the company said.
“He will be remembered as a visionary who played a pivotal role in E&E’s growth from a small, local firm to a successful global environmental consulting company,” the company said. “We cannot and will not forget the vision Gerhard provided to this company from its inception.”
Neumaier helped launch the company in 1970. In August, he was removed as chairman amid a shakeup of E&E’s management team. He resigned from the company’s board of directors last month.
