Airbus Helicopters Canada is creating 40 jobs at its plant in Fort Erie, Ont., as it adds a new production line.
The Gilmore Road facility will make cowlings – which cover an aircraft’s engine – for the EC225 aircraft. The helicopter is sold around the world and is used by the oil and gas industry to transport workers to offshore drilling rigs.
“The expansion of our composite department will also help protect the jobs already here as we continue to grow,” said Romain Trapp, Airbus Helicopters Canada’s chief executive officer.
The Fort Erie plant was established in 1984 and has about 235 employees. The site was known as Eurocopter Canada before it was rebranded by its parent company at the start of the year.
